Andrea Marçel Pidalà. He is an Italian urban planner and university researcher at the University of Palermo, Founder of the “Marçel Pidalà & Partners + Network“. Former Professor of Urban Planning (for more than ten years) in Italian and foreign universities with an intense commitment to frontal teaching. He is currently Professor of the Urban Theories and Regional Planning in a Global Perspectives Course at the “School of Humanities and Education” – Degree Course/Studies: “Geography, Spatial Management, Heritage International Cooperation (SSD ICAR 21)”, University of the Studies of Florence; former contract professor of the Environmental Assessment Course at the Degree Course of Civil-Construction Engineering, Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo (SSD BIO_07). Former Lecturer for the Laboratory Courses of Territorial Planning and Government of the Territory; former teacher in charge of the Landscape Course Urbanism; Urban Planning and Urban Planning II at the School of Architecture of the University of Florence (from 2015 to 2021, DIDA and SAGAS, SSD ICAR 20 and 21). He is a Ph.D. in Urban and Territorial Planning, University of Palermo (2009).
Former Research Associate (Researcher Aggregate) and Teaching and Tutorial Sessional contract (Lecturer) for the Urban and Regional Planning and Landscape and Heritage Sites Planning courses at Curtin University in Perth (WA, Australia) for the permanent period of 12 months -stable and continuous- from 2010 to 2011 it can therefore be counted among international experts in the discipline and qualified lecturer in various Italian and foreign universities. In 2014 he was International Visiting Research at Curtin University in Perth (WA, Australia). Already, several times, nominated Expert of Urban Planning at the Degree Courses in Architecture and Engineering of the University of Palermo (from 2005 to 2008; from 2009 to 2013; from 2013 to 2017 and renewed to date, SSD ICAR21). Equally relevant is the teaching for institutions and the third sector often conducted in parallel. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Urban Planning (INU) Sicily Section since 2012 (ten years) as well as a member of the Italian Society of Urban Planners (SIU) of the National Association of Urban Planners (ASSURB) and of the Italian Society of Territorialists (SdT), Association of Environmental Analysts (AAA). From April 2021 (four-year period 2021-2025) he is a member of the prestigious Technical Scientific Commission for Urban Planning of the Regional Territory and Environment of the Sicilian Region for the investigation of the municipal planning tools of the Municipalities of the Island. He is the author and co-author of numerous national and international scientific publications (more than sixty in editorial series of relevant scientific collocation) among which two books (2 scientific monographs) are distinguished: "Visions, strategies and scenarios in plan experiences" edited for the historic urbanistic editorial series by FrancoAngeli (pag.359,2014, Milan) monograph reviewed with wide scientific and cultural appreciation and the most recent “In search of self-sustainability. Visions and Scenarios for Territory and Community”, again for the types of FrancoAngeli, (page 280, 2021, Milan) a monograph equally relevant for the scientific community which contains the preface by Peter Newman and a conversation with Vittorio Gregotti. The scientific research activity is concentrated in the broader paradigm of "sustainability" in particular in relation to the effects of planning and design actions on the environment. Alongside the intense activity of analysis and research/action on urban and territorial phenomena, the professional exercise (in the field of research/action) is the preparation of various tools for territorial planning, urban planning and environmental assessment, at various scales (typologies and levels) both in Italy and abroad and is regularly registered with the Order of Architects PPC of Messina nm. 1717. The activity in the professional field of urban planning and design is consistent with its Marçel Group Pidalà & Partners + Network (https://www.mpwork.it/) and first with its own studio "Cityplanning" (in eighteen years, 18) the drafting of urban planning and planning tools (over twenty, 20, between Italy and abroad, but with a strong activity in Sicily) and many of these activities are visible and punctually listed in the pages of this site, as well as subject to review and scientific publication activities in symposia, conferences and seminars. Many of these planning tools have received approvals from the relevant regional authorities. He has participated, achieving winnings and qualified recommendations in urban planning competitions at national and regional level and is a lecturer and speaker at numerous meetings (more than 80 during his career), scientific and cultural initiatives both in Italy and abroad. In relation to the intense activity carried out both in theory and in practice Marçel Pidalà is a reference figure in the discipline, in the intellectual and cultural debate of urban planning, of planning as an activity in space and in society. ANDREA MARÇEL PIDALA' | Università degli Studi di Palermo (unipa.it)Valeria Ravì Pinto. She is an Italian architect known for the intense activity of architectural design and direction, supervision and administrative management -as Co-founder– of the activities of the “Marçel Pidalà & Partners + Network“.
Graduated in 2008 at the University of Palermo (during her university studies with Pasquale Culotta she supports the Architectural Design Laboratory 4) with a highly positive opinion, with a thesis on the redevelopment of the urban center of Capo d’Orlando (ME) entitled: “The image of the City. Capo d’Orlando: future city” conducted and supported with Maurizio Carta. After the qualification, in 2009, to exercise the activity of Architect, he carries out a training period in Palermo, at the “Marrone-Parlato Architetti” studio where he collaborates, on various fronts, in important complex projects buildings (including construction site activities and internal works) both in Palermo (e.g. the restoration and recovery of Palazzo Gaetani della Bastiglia), in Caltanissetta (e.g. residential building with settlement of 35,000 cubic meters with AGI Sinergia) and Trapani (e.g. the pilot intervention Temples C and E of Selinunte).
From 2010 to 2011 she assists Giuseppe Trombino in conducting the Urban Planning Course at the Engineering Degree Course at the University of Palermo, this activity allows her to deepen the themes of Sicilian urban planning technique on private construction. From 2012 to 2014, in an attempt to further refine his training, he embarked on a more autonomous activity carrying out several international trips with study/work stays (working experience) abroad (in Australia, USA, UK) completing his professional training, cultural and managerial where, observing the activities of managing director, he had the opportunity to internalize a new method acquired on a global scale and which concerns the broader approach to Project Management. During 2014 he met the Maestro Vittorio Gregotti in Milan, at his studio in Via Bandello, from this last meeting he had the opportunity to get to know the intense activity of the Studio, which influences him a lot, in this context the meeting the it also allows to develop a greater awareness in the organization of the project phases, as well as of style in the architectural project from the point of view of project management. At the same time, again, from 2012 she began to combine her energies with those of her husband (Marçel Pidalà) in sharing the formation and foundation of the group with a broader vision (mindful of international travel), complete, contemporary and common in the offer of services for architecture at 360 degrees, which allowed to range in the different dimensions and scales of the architecture, from territorial planning, to urban planning, to building, preliminary and executive planning, both of real estate units and building complexes up to property management. It is from this moment that he dedicates himself with dedication to an intense activity of promotion, management and administration of the group's activities, making his own specific professional contribution. Since 2014, together with her husband, she has founded a young start-up ACTIVA - Real Estate Administration which completes all the Group's activities (today divided into three strategic sectors of interest) today, the latter is present in the Nebrodi area with more than sixty properties, while it allows to have relationships with customers not only in the reference area but also abroad (France, Germany, Argentina, Australia, USA). From the design point of view, Valeria's signature is recognized today in the works of the “Marçel Pidalà & Partners + Network", especially in the internal distributions of the real estate units (B&B, private residences, commercial activities), in the furniture and design (outdoor), and also in the design of the complex building structure (real estate units both subject to design from scratch that of restructuring), as well as being a specialist in Project-Management of complex construction activities that also required the organization, the management of the project in all its phases together with the procurement of crowdfunding. The design activity with the group takes place on a local and regional scale, many of the works are in the Municipalities of the Nebrodi, but also in the cities of Messina, Palermo and Trapani and often also with international openings. She is duly registered in the Register of Architects of the City of Messina, nm 1898 and in the Register of the Sicilian Region of Energy Certifies n° 8966. Many of his works are present on this site, he has also participated in several regional and national design competitions, with wide awards (including in Sicily ACQUAS_1 of 2008; ACQUAS_2 of 2010, in Calabria the CETES of 2011).
Since 2013 (the year of signing of the Agreements with the Degree Courses) to date, numerous trainees have been hosted from the various CdL from the Universities of Palermo, Rome, Reggio Calabria and Venice. More specifically, since 2013 the trainees who have practiced at our offices have been 22 (twenty-two people). The internships have resulted in activities lasting about 3 months and have received highly positive results from the students, showing at the centers of origin the confirmation of a high degree of satisfaction and a strong methodological response to the training framework of pre -professional placement. Each internship was organized in curricular and/or extracurricular form. The students were included in real training activities and within specific project or programmatic activities in progress of the study. Some of these internships have also been subsidized thanks to the Youth Guarantee program set up by the Sicilian Region.
Currently it is possible to state that out of 22 trainees:
– 16 are from the Universities of Palermo and from the Degree Courses of the Polytechnic School, Architecture, Building Systems Engineering, Building Engineering and Architecture, Territorial and Urban Planning
– 1 comes from the University of Mediterranean Studies of Reggio Calabria, CdL History and Conservation of the BCAs
– 1 comes from the University Institute of Architecture in Venice (IUAV), CdL in Territorial and Urban Planning
– 1 comes from the University La Sapienza of Rome, CdL in Territorial and Urban Planning
– 1 comes from the University of Palermo, CdL Economics and Commerce (carrying out the practice within the ACTIVA srls company).
– 2 come from the high schools of the Technical-Commercial Institutes of the Nebrodi area.
The active agreements with universities for curricular and extracurricular internships are as follows:
